Belgium
Oasis' work in Belgium is particularly focussed on raising awareness about Human Trafficking - a modern day form of slavery which affects more than 2 million women, children and men every year.
Based in Hasselt, the Oasis Belgium team has grown to a team of 7 people since work commenced in January 2007.

The Oasis Belgium team are doing extensive research into the causes and consequences of forced prostitution and forced labor, this information is passed on to the EU and national government to improve legislation and therefore better protect victims and prosecute the traffickers.
More recently, the team are involved with Global fund Research which involves looking for projects in South East Asia that potentially can be supported by the Stop The Traffik Global Fund.
Stop the Traffik – Chocolate Campaign
Oasis Belgium is involved in organising the Stop the Traffik campaign in Belgium. As part of that we are highlighting the fact that more than 12,000 children have been trafficked into slavery in Côte d’Ivoire and are working on cocoa farms picking the beans which make our chocolate.

We are calling for an end to this exploitation and are asking all chocolate firms to tell us clearly which farms they buy beans from and guarantee that we are not eating chocolate made from beans picked by trafficked children.
As part of this campaign we are talking to schools, youth groups and churches asking them to send a message to industry by only buying fair-trade chocolate.
Business Travellers against Human Trafficking
This is a project to inform business travellers about human trafficking and to give them a place on our website to report any trafficking either into forced prostitution or forced labour. All the information and the place to report what you have seen is at www.businesstravellers.org
