Uganda
Although stability is slowly being restored across Uganda, the history of civil war, violence and famine has left its mark on the landscape.
Oasis first began work in Kampala, Uganda's capital, and since then its work has expanded and we are now using our expertise and experience to work in Mbale, Gulu and possibly Pader.
See Oasis in action!
One of our supporters recently made a short film about our work in Uganda - hopefully it will give you a clearer idea of what we're up to!
Gladys Story
"My name is Gladys and I am 32 years, widowed with 3 children. I lost my family during the war in 1986 and my husband later passed away. I have no extended family to help me care for my children.
Fortunately one of my children was enrolled into the Bambejja Child Support Project where she's being supported at school. I am currently part of the Bambejja Family Support and Resettlement Project where I have been able to receive training in different areas including good parenting skills, literacy, saving skills and different income generating activities.
I now weave baskets and sell them to earn an income which I use to look after my children, providing them with basic needs. Oasis Uganda has been able to help parents like us who are not in position to put our children through school which is a great opportunity."
